NCAA Game Summary - Oregon State at Arizona

Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - Justin Kahut kicked a 24-yard field goal as time expired just minutes after botching a potential game-tying extra point and the 21st-ranked Oregon State Beavers kept their Pac-10 tile and Rose Bowl hopes alive with a 19-17 victory over the Arizona Wildcats.

Sean Canfield connected on 20-of-32 pass attempts for 224 yards and a score while Sammie Stroughter had five receptions for 116 yards and a TD in the Beavers (8-3, 7-1 Pac-10) sixth straight victory and seventh in a row against league foes.

James Rodgers rushed for 102 yards and a score on just 10 carries while brother and vital teammate Jacquizz Rodgers was sidelined early in the contest with a shoulder injury and did not return.

With the win, OSU moved closer to its first Pac-10 title since sharing the honor in 2000, and will look to continue their remarkable run at clinching the program's first Rose Bowl berth since 1965, hosting conference rival Oregon next Saturday to close out the regular season.

After losing to Stanford and Penn State to open the season, the Beavers rallied by winning eight of its next nine outings, including a huge upset of then top-ranked USC back in late September. That win is especially important, as it will serve as the tie-breaker if OSU and USC were to finish atop the Pac-10 standings.

OSU is in control of its own destiny for the Pac-10 title, as the school owns a game in hand over the Trojans, who moved to 7-1 in conference play with a win against Stanford last Saturday. USC is idle this week before hosting Notre Dame and closing out the season in Los Angeles against UCLA.

Mike Thomas led the receiving corps with six catches for 50 yards for the Wildcats (6-5, 4-4) who are still aiming for their first seven-win campaign in a decade. Arizona had alternated wins and losses over their previous six games, which included a wild 55-45 setback at Oregon last weekend.

Keola Antolin racked up 114 yards rushing and a TD on 25 carries while Willie Tuitama completed 16-of-22 passes for 158 yards and a TD to Rob Gronkowski, who finished with three grabs for 50 yards.
