NCAA Game Summary - Army at Rutgers

Piscataway, NJ (Sports Network) - Mike Teel threw for 359 yards and a score as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights posted a 30-3 win over the Army Black Knights in non-conference play at Rutgers Stadium.

Teel converted 23-of-33 passing for the Scarlet Knights (6-5) as they won their fifth straight outing. Tim Brown had just a single carry on the afternoon, yet he scored the only other offensive touchdown for the program.

Army (3-8) again focused its energy on the ground, coming up with 217 yards on 47 attempts, but the squad failed to get into the end zone. Chip Bowden, who was second with 83 yards on 21 attempts, converted a mere 2-of-4 passing for two yards. Collin Mooney contributed a game-high 112 yards rushing on 20 carries in the team's third straight setback.

Rutgers scored 30 unanswered points before the visitors managed to hit the scoreboard, beginning with a 58-yard fumble return by Joe Lefeged at the 13:13 mark of the first frame. Later in the period San San Te knocked through the first of his three field goals, this on a 32-yard attempt, to make the score 10-0 at the end of one.

Teel and Shamar Graves hooked up for a 26-yard TD strike in the second frame, followed by field goals of 39 and 27 yards by San San Te to make the score 23-0 at the break.

At the 6:33 mark of the third Brown capped a seven-play, 82-yard drive with his 19-yard rushing score to give the hosts a 30-0 edge.

Later in the period Army kicker Matthew Campbell booted a 24-yard field goal, but that was it for the scoring from either side on the day.

Rutgers, which ran 13 more offensive plays than the Black Knights, came up with 521 yards of total offense, compared to 219 for the visitors.
