NCAA Game Summary - Clemson at Virginia

Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - C.J. Spiller's touchdown pass in the first quarter proved to be enough as the Clemson Tigers defeated the Virginia Cavaliers, 13-3, in ACC action at Scott Stadium.

Spiller, who carried the ball 14 times for a mere 18 yards for the Tigers (6-5, 4-4 ACC), hit Tyler Grisham with a 15-yard TD strike in the first frame to kick off the day's scoring.

The Cavaliers (5-6, 3-4) generated a mere 190 yards of offense as Marc Verica converted 24-of-39 passing for 160 yards himself, but he was sacked twice and intercepted three times in the affair.

After Grisham's TD catch in the first, Clemson kicker Mark Buchholz knocked through the first of his two field goals, hitting from 32 yards to give the visitors a 10-0 advantage.

Before the half could end Virginia scored its first and only points of the day on a 34-yard field goal by Robert Randolph to cap a 13-play, 60-yard drive.

Following a scoreless third quarter Buchholz converted a 23-yard field goal to secure the 10-point win.
