Hamilton, ON (Sports Network) - Kerry Joseph threw for 399 yards as the Toronto Argonauts rallied to down the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 34-31.
Joseph went 18-for-33 with a touchdown while Jamal Robertson and Bryan Crawford each had a rushing touchdown for the Argonauts (4-6), who snapped a two-game skid. Arland Bruce had 10 receptions for 149 yards and a score in the win.
Casey Printers went 12-for-22 with 161 yards and one passing touchdown and added 68 yards on the ground on seven carries with a pair of scores for the Tiger-Cats (4-7), who have dropped their last two games. Jesse Lumsden had 15 carries for 104 yards in the loss.
Trailing by two points to start the fourth quarter, Toronto got a 50-yard field goal from Mike Vanderjagt a bit over three minutes into the final stanza to take a 27-26 lead.
After holding Hamilton on the following possession, the Argonauts got the ball back and proceeded to drive down the field. Crawford completed the drive with a one-yard plunge into the end zone for a 34-26 lead with 8:18 to play.
The game wasn't over, though, as Vanderjagt conceded a safety and Nick Setta punched a 43-yard field goal with 2:36 to play to make it a 34-31 game.
Toronto had to punt on its following possession, but after holding Hamilton the team was able to kill off the rest of the clock.
The Argonauts grabbed the early lead on a one-yard run from Robertson for a 7-0 advantage less than three minutes into the contest.
Hamilton responded to tie the game as Printers punched the ball into the end zone from four yards out with under seven minutes left in the first, but a 21- yard field goal from Vanderjagt gave the Argonauts a 10-7 lead heading into the second.
Hamilton got a safety to start the second quarter, but Toronto immediately answered with a single.
Printers then completed a 70-yard scoring drive with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Chris Bauman for a 16-11 lead, but Toronto answered on its next touch as Joseph's 11-yard TD strike to Bruce gave the team an 18-16 advantage.
Vanderjagt's field goal in the waning seconds of the first half gave Toronto a 21-16 lead heading into the locker room.
The Tiger-Cats cut into their deficit with their first possession of the second half on a 43-yard field goal from Setta and Printers 26-yard touchdown run with under eight minutes left in the third gave the team a 26-21 lead.
Vanderjagt hit a 28-yard field goal for the final score of the third quarter and Toronto trailed, 26-24, heading into the final stanza.
