CFL Game Summary - Winnipeg at Saskatchewan

Regina, SK (Sports Network) - Michael Bishop was just 10-of-24 for 107 yards and an interception in his first game as a Roughrider but scored the game's lone touchdown on a nine-yard run to help Saskatchewan down Winnipeg, 19-6.

Bishop ran for 51 yards on 11 attempts and his versatility under center ultimately helped the Roughriders (7-2) to their league-leading seventh win, which snapped a two-game skid. Bishop was acquired last weekend from the Toronto Argonauts for a conditional draft pick, replacing veteran Marcus Crandell, who battled injury and inconsistency for much of the year before being released Thursday.

Wes Cates, who leads the CFL in rushing with 801 yards and came in averaging more than five yards per carry, gained 72 yards on 15 carries. He also led the team in receiving with three catches for 28 yards.

Meanwhile, Kevin Glenn made his second straight start in his second stint as the Bombers' No. 1 quarterback and finished 28-for-42 for 269 yards but with two picks for the Blue Bombers (2-7).

Derick Armstrong led all receivers with eight receptions for 105 yards while Charles Roberts rushed for just 48 yards on 13 carries after re-emerging with a 145-yard, two-touchdown performance against Hamilton last week.

The teams traded field goals in the opening quarter with Saskatchewan's Luca Congi drilling a 27-yard field goal before Winnipeg's Alexis Serna matched him with a 22-yard boot.

Bishop then capped a 65-yard drive taking it in from nine yards out for a 10-3 lead just under 30 seconds into the second period. Congi added field goals of 34 and 47 yards before the half to give the Riders a 16-3 lead at the break.

Congi added a 19-yard field goal for the third quarter's lone tally and Serna finally connected again for Winnipeg from 38 yards out with 10:34 left to play in the game, but the Bombers just couldn't find the end zone.
